Standing Ovation: Celebrating Our S.E.A. Stars at Moneta Elementary!

After-School Success at Moneta Elementary School

The curtains have closed on another spectacular season of the S.E.A. After-School Theatre Workshop at Moneta Elementary School, and we are buzzing with pride! Congratulations to our amazing students on a truly successful theatre showcase today. The last eight weeks have been a journey full of creativity, teamwork, and confidence building, and today was the perfect celebration of their hard work and remarkable talent.

The Power of Partnership in Rural Education

This success is rooted in the strength of our community partnerships. We want to extend a massive thank you to the Bedford County Public School System for their continued collaboration. Their commitment to working with us is what allows SML Good Neighbors to bring these valuable after-school S.E.A. programs directly to the children who need them. In rural communities like ours, these partnerships are invaluable they bridge resource gaps, enhance learning opportunities, and help us collectively invest in the future of our students.

Theatre Skills are Life Skills

The growth we see in the children is transformative. Since 2014, SML Good Neighbors’ after-school programs have been helping children grow in understanding, expression, and confidence. Our theatre workshops are specifically designed to nurture critical life skills:

  • Cultivating Creativity and Self Expression: The students explore new ideas and embrace their unique voices.

  • Strengthening Communication and Literacy: Engaging with scripts and performing roles directly enhances language comprehension and verbal fluidity.

  • Building Patience, Confidence, and Teamwork: Through collaborative rehearsals, children learn to rely on one another, resulting in a soaring sense of self assurance. We were so proud to see their initiative, with many students even choreographing their own dances for the showcase!

Theatre skills truly are life skills, translating directly to improved empathy, comprehension, public speaking, and collaboration in all areas of their lives.

A Community of Gratitude

We are incredibly proud of these young stars, but their success is a reflection of the dedication of many. A huge THANK YOU to our generous supporters, our devoted volunteers, and the parents who encourage their children every step of the way. Special thanks must also go to our incredible instructor for their passion and guidance.

We also want to recognize our awesome sound crew, Ed and Lisa, and the amazing Moneta Elementary staff for their vital logistical support.

Finally, an extra special thank you to 100+ Women Who Care SML for providing the amazing new sound equipmentthat enhanced today’s performance. Your support ensures the professional quality of our showcases and the continued growth of our program!

We couldn’t be prouder of these young stars and look forward to many more seasons of growth and creativity.
