A Tradition of Compassion and Care

There is something truly special about a community that rallies around its own. This afternoon, we officially kicked off SML Gives 2026, marking our milestone 5th Giving Day. For half a decade, this initiative has stood as a powerful testament to the shared care and generosity of the Smith Mountain Lake region.

SML Gives is more than just an annual online fundraiser, it is a heartbeat for our region. It brings us together to support the incredible local nonprofits serving Bedford and Franklin Counties, organizations that meet real, everyday needs with unwavering compassion and commitment.

Save the Date: March 18, 2026

Mark your calendars, friends! March 18, 2026, is the official day to GIVE.

Our 24-hour online giving event will take place right here at smlgives.org. In addition to giving online, we invite you to join us in person at Resurrection Catholic Church for our community Nonprofit Fair. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect face to face with the dedicated people behind the organizations making a lasting difference right here at home.

The Goal and the Impact

Every single gift, no matter the size, helps strengthen the local nonprofits providing essential services, vital support, and enduring hope to our neighbors.

This year, an incredible 50 local nonprofits are participating with a shared, ambitious goal of raising $300,000.

We want to extend our deepest, heartfelt thanks to our generous sponsors who make this work possible:

  • Centra

  • Capps

  • Serendipity Grant Writing & Consulting

  • SML Insiders

Together, we give. Together, we strengthen our community. Visit smlgives.org to learn more and get ready to make an impact on March 18!
