Phat Anchovies Crowned Overall Winner at 6th Annual Battle of the Bands

Moneta, VA, August 25, 2025 – Music, community, and generosity came together in a big way at the 6th Annual Battle of the Bands held at Mango’s Bar & Grill on Sunday, August 24th. The event, benefiting SML Good Neighbors, raised an impressive $3,198.50 to support local children in Bedford and Franklin Counties.


After an afternoon of incredible performances from six talented local bands, the Overall Winner title went to Phat Anchovies, with LouD earning the spot of Overall Runner-Up. The coveted People’s Choice Award, as decided by audience donations, went to the Brent Monster Band, who inspired $1,671 in votes from enthusiastic fans.

“This event is a fun fundraiser we host each year that brings awareness to our cause while also celebrating local talent and the arts,” said Lisa Lietz, Executive Director of SML Good Neighbors. “The music was phenomenal, the energy was electric, and the generosity of our community ensures that local children continue to have access to our programs.”

SML Good Neighbors extends heartfelt thanks to all participating bands, event sponsors, donors, audience members, and the dedicated staff at Mango’s Bar & Grill who made the event possible.

Since 2007, the organization has provided free academic, enrichment, and nutritional programs for rising 1st–6th grade students, as well as scholarships for high school seniors in Franklin and Bedford Counties, and leadership development internships for college students.
