MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR MARCH 19TH 2025
FOR SML GIVES 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[Bedford & Franklin Counties, VA] – March 14, 2024 – The annual SML Gives campaign was a resounding success yesterday, exceeding its ambitious fundraising goal of $200,000. This year's event, held on March 13th, brought together 37 local nonprofits from Bedford and Franklin Counties for a day of online giving and community spirit. A grand total of $218,451 was raised during SML Gives 2024!

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Smith Mountain Lake community and beyond,” said Lisa Lietz, executive director for SML Good Neighbors, the organization leading the SML Gives initiative. “Thanks to the incredible support of donors and sponsors, SML Gives 2024 will significantly impact the vital services offered by our local nonprofits.”

The online giving platform buzzed with activity throughout the day, with hundreds of community members contributing to their favorite causes. The event fostered a sense of unity and collaboration as residents rallied behind the vital work of these organizations, both online and in-person, at the SML Gives Nonprofit Fair held at the SML YMCA, which donated the space.

“SML Gives is more than just a fundraising event,” Lietz continued. “It’s a celebration of the incredible work our nonprofits do every day. It’s a chance for the community to come together and show their collective strength and compassion.”

The SML Gives team extends its deepest gratitude to the following:

The generous donors who contributed to the campaign.

The dedicated staff and volunteers of the participating nonprofits.

The event sponsors whose support made the event possible.

The matching donors who chose to double the impact for several nonprofits.

The media who helped spread the word to our beautiful community.

Together, they have made a significant difference in the lives of countless individuals and families in the Smith Mountain Lake region.
